Drug and Alcohol Task Force

Liffey Partnership is proud to contribute to the Ballyfermot Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force. Our Project Coordinator supports a variety of addiction services while also organising events and teaching a QQi Level 5 Community Addiction Studies Course.

The BLDATF is a multi-agency and disciplinary board supporting organisations to provide a range of services and activities in the Ballyfermot Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force Area.

We play a key role in assessing the extent and nature of the drug problem in Ballyfermot. We coordinate action at the local level for a targeted response in the community through individuals, organisations and networks.

Our aims are to address the harms of problematic drug and alcohol use and the effect this has on individuals, communities and families. We run a number of events throughout the year to promote recovery and encourage access to services in Ballyfermot such as Recovery month and International Women’s Day.

In carrying out our work, we use the principles of community development and build relationships with the statutory, voluntary and community sectors locally and nationally.

We run a QQI level 5 Community Addiction Studies Course. It is open to anyone who wants to be able to support people with drug/alcohol issues. All you need to participate is a willingness to learn. If you are aiming to go on to the level 7 in addiction, this is also a great starting point.

The purpose of the Community Addiction Studies Course is to enable you to:

  • Learn about drugs and their effects
  • Develop an understanding of addiction
  • Become more effective in your responses
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to become more effective in responding to drug misuse in your communities

The road to recovery is easier when it is shared with others. It is also easier when you have goals to pursue. We run a programme called Careers Edge that helps you to work towards achievable education and employment goals. It is a safe place that supports your recovery journey while developing your future.
