Cherry Orchard is Representing Ireland on the World Stage!
This is an incredibly proud moment for the entire Cherry Orchard community.
Our H2GP Pro team, The HANDBRAKERS, from Cherry Orchard Youth Service, has earned the honour of representing Ireland at the World H2 Grand Prix Pro Finals in Bulle, Switzerland, taking place from 29th June to 3rd July 2026.
The team, made up of Jack O'Rourke, Kyal Rafter, Reece Appleby, Kyle Smullen and Nathan Byrne, secured their place on the world stage after winning the Irish Hydrogen Grand Prix National Final, completing an incredible 366 laps in a gruelling 3.5-hour endurance race with their hydrogen-powered race car.
The World Finals will bring together national champions from across the globe, with teams travelling from countries including Taiwan, Azerbaijan and many more to compete in one of the world's leading hydrogen-powered STEM competitions.
Over the past number of months, our young people have immersed themselves in renewable energy, engineering, design and teamwork, taking their car from concept through prototyping, manufacturing, testing and ultimately to becoming Irish National Champions. Their commitment, innovation and resilience have been nothing short of inspiring.
To Jack, Kyal, Reece, Kyle and Nathan, thank you for representing Cherry Orchard with such pride. You have already achieved something extraordinary, and now you have the opportunity to represent not only our community but the whole of Ireland on the world stage.
From everyone at Cherry Orchard Equine Centre and Cherry Orchard Youth Service, we wish you every success in Switzerland. We couldn't be prouder.
