Education Grants & Funding

Education is an avenue to a better and brighter future. It has huge value to your life going forward and we want to support you. We provide different funds to make third level and further education more accessible and affordable. These funds will open again in 2026 before the academic year starts.

Education Resource Fund – Now Closed until Summer 2026

The Education Resource Fund is a grant available for students living in the Ballyfermot and Chapelizod areas studying courses that can improve your career opportunities. It launches each summer and provides up to €800 funding to help with course expenses.

  • Course fees
  • IT equipment
  • Leap card top up / Train tickets
  • Course books and materials

  • Register with Liffey Partnership
  • Provide proof of address
  • Complete the application in full
  • Supply the supporting documents requested. eg social welfare statement / statement of liability / self-assessment accounts
  • Provide student card or college registration

  • Accredited QQI courses
  • 1st year apprenticeships
  • Level 5 to 9 university and college courses
  • Further education with recognised qualifications
  • Non-private education courses

Leaders in Learning  Now Closed until Summer 2026

Leaders in Learning (LIL) is a bursary available to residents of Cherry Orchard, funded by the Cherry Orchard Implementation Board (COIB). Since 2019, the bursary has helped individuals access a wide variety of education and training opportunities – from first-year apprenticeships and part-time courses to full-time study and short upskilling programmes.

In 2024 alone, over 70 residents received support through LIL, with participants pursuing studies in fields such as Medicine, Business and Finance, Community and Social Care, Carpentry, Engineering, Theatre Studies, and Midwifery.

The LIL can offer up to €1,500 to anyone living in Cherry Orchard for:

  • Course fees
  • IT equipment
  • Leap card top up / Train tickets
  • Course books and material

  • Register with Liffey Partnership
  • Provide proof of address
  • Complete the application in full
  • Supply the supporting documents requested. eg social welfare statement / statement of liability / self-assessment accounts
